Firsts: sick visit to the doctor and antibiotic- croup and ear infection, sitting in a high chair at a restaurant (I know...we don't get out much), baby dedication at church- you had the hiccups the whole time, bath in the "big" tub
News Headlines: U.S. forces killed Osama Bin Laden (9/11); NASA space shuttle Endeavor launches; Oprah Winfrey says goodbye after 25 years hosting her show; tornado devastates Joplin, Missouri
Measurements: No doctor appointment until 9 months, but since you were sick, we did weigh you at the office- you were 18 pounds 11 ounces (that was about 2 1/2 weeks ago, so probably 19 lbs now). You wear size 3 diapers and mostly 6-12 month clothes.
Milestones: You now have (almost) 3 teeth! The two bottom ones came 2 weeks apart, and I just saw a glimpse of a top tooth yesterday. No crawling yet, but you love to sit and rock back and forth on your bottom. I've "pushed" you foward to see what happens and you just can't get your legs to cooperate.
Our Days: I haven't posted one of these in a while, and I started thinking that one day, when we have our 2nd child, I may be wondering how our schedule changed as you get older. So here it is at 8 months (most days, there ARE exceptions):
- wake up around 5-6 a.m. and usually take 5-6 ounce bottle
- stay awake and play until about 6:15 when we leave for daycare
- eat oatmeal and 2nd food fruit around 7 a.m.
- nap (daycare says your naps are around 2 hours)
- bottle (this one is a struggle for you to take, you usually only take 4 ounces or so)
- lunch anywhere from 11-12:00 (whole wheat cereal, 2nd food veggie)
- nap (another 2 hours or so, normally)
- bottle
- I send 3 bottles and you usually come home with one extra
- some days you are sleeping when I pick you up around 4:00
- depending on when you woke up from your 2nd nap, you may need another quick one before bed, usually around 5:30 or so (only lasts about 30 minutes)
- eat dinner around 5 or 5:30- 2nd food veggie and dessert (peach cobbler is your favorite- I don't blame you, it's pretty yummy!)
- bath every other night around 7:00
- bottle at 7:30 (this is usually a pretty big one- up to 8 ounces, but sometimes you decide 3 or 4 is enough)
- bed at 7:45-8:00 (most nights you fall right asleep, as in, before I can walk out of the room- a few nights, you "talk" yourself to sleep- about 5-10 minutes, and you usually do not fuss)
Pretty detailed schedule right? I just know that in the future, I will be trying to remember what he did all day! I will probably post another "Our Days" in a few months, or when things change up a lot more. This has been the schedule for the past 2-3 months.
Other info:
- Pampers Baby-Dry diapers are the only ones that you don't leak through overnight. It took us a week or so to figure this out. During the day, any other kind of diaper is fine.
- You like to make a whistling sound with your mouth. Daddy and Grandpa are whistlers, so it looks like we have another generation!
- You have not taken a paci since you were a couple months old, but now you like to "play" with one. You don't suck it, you just bite down and hold it or chew it. We figure, well, if you see it like a toy and not a necessity, then no harm done.
- You say "da-da-da-da" ALL day long!
- We have started tilting your mattress by putting a pillow under one end. I think this helps with your coughing at night. When you are teething (which seems like it may never end) you get a runny nose.
- Your eye color has not changed very much since you were born. A little brownish in the middle, but still mostly that grayish-blue color.
- You are growing hair, but VERY slowly! It seems to be light brown, lighter than mommy and daddy's.
Pictures from this month:
I can't remember what you are eating here....a cookie maybe?
