Three Months Old

For the life of me, I cannot get you to smile for the camera. I make faces and noises, and pretty much act like a complete fool- but still no smile! You will smile all day for other things, but not the camera

Firsts: staying in the church nursery, first snow, rolling over from belly to back, first Christmas, consistently sleeping through the night

News Headlines: Auburn is going to play Oregon in the National Championship Game on Jan. 10th! I think that's the most important/best news ever! (Cam Newton won the Heisman trophy also)

Milestones: You are becoming very vocal these days! You love to "talk" to anything and everything. You make gurgling sounds in your throat too! Also, you can roll over from your belly to your back. One of your favorite things to do is put your fist in your mouth- you mostly do it with your right hand, maybe you'll be right-handed. Your hands have found themselves! You put them together all the time. I think our favorite milestone is that you have been sleeping through the night for a couple weeks now! :)

Measurements: We haven't been to the doctor since Dec. 2nd, so we aren't really sure. I'm guessing 13ish pounds and 24-25 inches long. You are in between size 1 and size 2 diapers. The 1's are a little snug, but the 2's are kind of baggy! Thank goodness Pampers makes a size "1-2". You are still wearing mostly 0-3 month clothes, with the exception of a few onesies that are 3-6 months.

Our Days: Not a whole lot has changed since last month. You usually wake up between 5 and 6 to eat, but are still really sleepy. I usually put you back down and you sleep anywhere from 7 to 8 o'clock. You are still a "cat-napper" and only take 45 min. to 1 hour naps. You take maybe 3 of those during the day. You usually take your last feeding between 7 and 8 p.m. and we try to get you in bed before 8:30. Next month, our schedule will be different because mommy has to go back to work :(  I am very sad about this... for any of my teacher friends who are reading this- please give me daily support, I'm going to need it! I have a feeling there will be tears shed daily.

Challenges: I guess the challenge would still be your crazy naps. You are still sleepy when you wake up (and cranky) but you won't go back to sleep.

Our Favorites: One of my favorite times of the day is when you wake up in the morning (for the 2nd time). You are so happy and usually I stand above your crib and you smile and talk to me for a few minutes! You are in such a good mood after all that sleep! I also love your facial expressions- you have a "surprised" look that is so funny!

How we celebrated: Well, I had to run some errands in Huntsville that morning, so you stayed with Granna and Grandaddy for a couple hours. That night, the whole family went to Villa Fiesta restaurant to eat for your Mimi's birthday (the 27th). You did really good at the restaurant, and almost fell asleep on the way home.

I can't believe how fast you are growing. You love to sit up on my lap more and more. The only times you like to be held like a baby are when you are eating or sleepy. We love you so much and are so excited about watching you grow up!

Here are some pictures from this month:

My Favorite Holiday Song :)

I went to a presentation of the Living Christmas Tree in Arab this past week. This has become a tradition for me and a special friend, Kari. That was the first time I had heard this song, and had no idea that Faith Hill sings it. When I heard it for the first time, it literally brought tears to my eyes. This being the first holiday season with Will, I am feeling especially blessed that I was chosen to be his mother. A friend from college posted this to her blog and talked about Christmas from a mother's perspective. It is very true- a baby changes everything. :) I thank God every day for my sweet baby Will.

2 Month Check-up

We went to the doctor for Will's 2 month visit today. He had to get 3 shots :( My mom went with us for moral support- mostly for me! I've heard it's much worse for the mommies than it is for the babies, and that is so true. He did so well though, but the crying broke my heart- he cried real tears for the first time. But he did get the cutest band aids on his legs! He weighs exactly 12 pounds, which is 39% for his age. He is 24 inches long and that's 70%-- he's a tall boy! I took some pictures while we were there. I meant to do this at his other visits, but forgot!

Dr. Jones was so proud that he can roll over now! We are practicing, and I am determined to get in on video. We go back in January for his 4 month check up!

Two Months Old

You love to look out the windows!

Firsts: going with mommy to vote, first real bath in your bathtub, trip to the pumpkin patch, getting your Christmas pictures made, going to church (you got to see Jenna get baptized- it was a very special day), visiting mommy's special friend Mrs. Susan (she was mommy's Bible study teacher in high school- you are the first Bible study grandbaby), shopping trip to Huntsville with mommy and Granna (you got to go to 2 of mommy's favorite places: P.F. Chang's and Target), getting your picture made with Santa, first trip to Wal-Mart, first night away from Mommy and Daddy (you spent the night with Granna and Grandaddy and did great), first time sleeping through the night! (ok, it only happened once, but we'll take it!)

News Headlines: Auburn won the Iron Bowl, Auburn is going to the SEC Championship (and so are Mommy and Daddy) to play South Carolina, Prince William is engaged to Kate Middleton- they will marry in April

Milestones: You are definitely smiling more now, and even let out an occasional giggle! Apparently, these are called "social smiles" and are very important in your development. You can recognize mommy and daddy now. You are getting so good at holding your head up! It's still a little wobbly, but we're practicing! Sometimes you even push up with your arms to help.

Measurements: Well, we haven't been to the doctor- we go on Dec. 2 for your 2 month check up. But Mommy has weighed you at home and you are around 11-12 pounds! Daddy used a measuring tape to see how long you are and you're about 24 inches. You are a big boy! No more newborn diapers or clothes for you! You're now in size 1 diapers and mostly 0-3 month clothes. Mommy had to pack away clothes for the first time this month, and it made her very sad :(

Mommy and Daddy's Favorites: Everything is our favorite! We love your smiles and giggles. Your sneezes are especially cute because we think you scare yourself and throw your arms up in the air!

Challenges: Everyone who knows us knows this answer....daytime naps!! Oh boy, you love to stay awake during the day, and would all day if you could. This makes for a very sleepy/cranky baby by 4 or 5 in the afternoon. You may take 1 or 2 short naps during the day- mommy has tried everything to get you to sleep. One way is driving down bumpy roads! But, you are a good night sleeper, so I guess I would rather you sleep at night! Hopefully, next month we won't have this "challenge" anymore!

Like Mommy: When you sneeze, you can never do it only once. You are a double-sneezer, and so is mommy! She actually could be a triple or quadruple-sneezer!

Like Daddy: We have been told many times that you look like daddy, especially your eyes. A sweet lady working the polls at the election said, "I think he's going  to be a Weathers!!" We sure hope so! :) You also have daddy's hairline...haha. :)

Our Days: Well, last month we did not have much of a schedule, but this month is a little better. You are definitely on a schedule at night. You usually eat around 7-7:30 and are in bed before 9. You wake up around 1:00 to eat, and again around 5-5:30. Then, usually you go back to sleep for an hour or so, and our days officially start around 7. Mommy showers and gets ready and you eat breakfast after that. If you saw the "Challenges" part of this post, you know that you don't sleep much during the day. You may nap an hour or so in the morning, and maybe a couple 30-45 naps in the afternoon, but that's it. Daddy comes home around 5:30-6 and we make and eat dinner. Next month, maybe we'll be saying that you sleep all night!

How we celebrated: Well, Mommy posted this a little late because....we've been in AUBURN! We left after Thanksgiving lunch with the Weathers family. We thought we'd go for a couple days before mommy goes back to work next month. So, another first for you is a trip to Auburn!

Sweet baby, we can't believe how fast time has gone by! You are growing and changing every day. We love every minute we have with you. Mommy and Daddy love you! :)

Here are some pictures from this month:

Fingernail Clippers...booo

So, I have officially injured my child- please don't call DHR- it was an accident, I promise! All mommies know how tricky clipping infants' fingernails can be. I usually do it when he's sleeping, otherwise he's too squirmy. Well today, I clipped a little too close.

The injury...I know, you probably can't see it but trust me, it's there.
He only cried for a few seconds, and I only cried for a few minutes. I felt so terrible seeing the blood on his little bitty finger. He wasn't upset for long.

This was his face about 30 seconds after it happened....
Good thing babies forgive and forget!

Bathtime!

So you finally had your first real bath last Sunday. We had been giving you sponge baths every week or so because your umbilical cord stump took SOOO long to fall off- 4 weeks! Here are a few pictures from your first bath tub experience. We think you enjoyed it- as long as you stayed warm. We hope you love the water; maybe one day you'll be on the swim team like daddy!

You weren't quite sure what to think at first

Look at that belly and those cheeks!

All warm and snuggly...daddy is holding your hands :)

At first you were warm....

And then...not so much!

Don't worry, we didn't let you cry for long. We bundled you up, nice and clean! :)

The Pumpkin Patch

We took Will to the pumpkin patch today! He was asleep for most of it :)

Here are some pictures from our trip:

He was not too happy with us by the time this was over

I think he had had enough!

Happy Halloween!!
