Beach 2011

*warning-long post with lots of pictures*

The three of us have been at the beach the past few days. There was limited Internet access so I have been dying to post some beach pictures! So they are mostly of Will, but there are a few others too. Will did so well! He really loved the sand, but mostly just tried to eat it. There may be a small sandcastle forming in his belly. We tried to stop him before his hand got to his mouth, but we weren't always successful! We tested out the ocean, but a humongous wave came out of nowhere and smacked him in the face...very unhappy baby. He screamed so loud that I bet people inside their rooms could hear him. You know, the kind of crying where he stops breathing and then all of a sudden lets it out? Yeah, people were staring...but it ended soon. We didn't give up though. We found a tide pool a few inches deep that we plopped him down into and he loved it!

When you travel with a baby, it definitely has it's perks. For instance, people are overly friendly (most of the time) and will try anything to make your baby smile. People also hold doors for you everywhere you go and let you get on the elevator first- even when they clearly were there first. It kinda reminded me of when I was pregnant, except then- along with the kindness- I got a look of pity (especially towards the end when it was 100 degrees and I was gigantic). People would always let me go first, most importantly in the bathroom lines!

The only thing Will did NOT like was the elevator. And when I say did not like, I am putting it very lightly. The elevator scared the living daylights out of this child. And guess what floor we were on? 19. There was no way mommy was climbing 19 flights of stairs. Jeff would have to come save the both of us. So, we would sing, make faces, dance, whatever could distract him for the few seconds we were trapped. Bless his heart, he would start shaking and cling to us for dear life. I think the feeling of going up and down made him scared.

We spent a lot of time at the pool. There are 2 pools, one all outdoors and one half in and half out (you can swim through this little doorway to go back and forth). We stayed where it was least crowded. He loved the water and his little float. I had these adorable sunglasses for him to wear, but he decided that he'd rather chew on them instead. Speaking of chewing, this boy is chewing on everything! (Notice the pictures below- most of them feature him chewing on something). I know another tooth has to be coming in somewhere.

Also, Will was called a girl a couple different times! We'd get, "Oh, she's so cute!" and "What's her name?" Yes, he's going to love me in a few years for posting this. And when those comments were made, one time he was wearing blue and red swim trunks and the other time blue overalls??

Overall, we had a wonderful trip, ate some amazing food, and got to spend some quality time with our little man. I wish we could have stayed longer, but reality calls and we're back :)

Here are some pictures from our trip!

The first night- at Mellow Mushroom. Will's first girlfriend of the trip is in the background. Notice I said first :) She was precious and he stared at her and that family pretty much the whole time. Turns out, he's pretty entertaining at restaurants.

Before going to the beach for the first time

Pool time! He LOVED it :)

Eating dinner at Dewey's in Destin (Will chose to just eat the straps on his seat cover )

Since he was up at about 5:30 every morning, we had lots of indoor playtime!

Almost got it!

Enjoying an apple, poolside

Beach pictures with our little man

His first experience in the ocean

mmmm.....yummy sand

The token family beach picture
(the sweet lady who took it was one of the people to call Will a girl...haha)

Time to go already?

Last night eating at McGuire's- the quality of these isn't too good, but if you've been there, you know how the lighting is in there :)

It was also our 3rd anniversary

We had to put up a dollar bill :)

On the way home. He was a tired little fella :)

We had an awesome trip and look forward to continuing this tradition next summer!
